Balmoral Archery is open to all archers, but is known best for its primitive shoots.

Archers using primitive (self) bows compete for "the stick" in two rounds of 3D, 2 arrows at each target. We utilize scoring sticks, rather than the customary 5, 8 10 scoring. With the stick, you cut a notch for the number of arrows in the kill zones on the targets only.

These shoots are two day events, with novelties that are not only fun, but a test of skill in shots not usually found in a 3D shoot. There is usually a long distance shoot, various moving targets, team competitions, complete with a camp fire and great companionship.

We are also known for our bow building workshops. On Saturday, we supply, for a nominal fee a roughed out stave that under the guidance of the skilled bowyers present are usually turned into shootable bows by Saturday night .
